Wow!! What a weekend it was. Lots of stories and not enough time.

DAB honors go to Greg Westall, Jr., aka "JR". His dad tells that JR was using a Zara Spook and hooked into a 6+ bass.  As he was fighting the fish, the reel fell off of his rod into the water. Dad said it was hilarious watching JR scurrying around trying to recover his reel.  Needless to say, JR lost the fish. Dad said that JR was redoing is equipment the night before and forgot to tighten down the reel to the rod.

On Friday morning, Eric and Nick decided to travel to the Tigers to pre-fish.  While running Eric took his eyes off the waves in front of him to look at the GPS and his boat came off a wave and nose dived into another wave. Eric gunned the motor to bring the nose of the boat up and but ended up driving the boat further into the wave. Nick said he was not impress when the water came over his head. The good news is they did not sink the boat and both were wearing their life jacket. The boys went to the bank to pump the water out of the boat, when Nick decided to retaliate and hit Eric in the back of the head with a crankbait. Eric said he knew everything was okay when he heard the bait hit the water. Sometimes it pays to be hard headed.

It was 7:00p.m. when my phone rang and it was Scott Saltz.  He was broke down at the State Park and needed help. Wayne, Nick, Eric and Debbie hooked up the boat and headed for the State Park. Wayne and Nick found Scott tied to a tree at the mouth of the Salinas. The wind was blowing 20-25 mph parallel to the damn.  It took 1 1/2 hours for them to be towed back to the park. Everyone made it back safely. While Wayne was untying the tow knot, he accidentally grabbed the snake that had wrapped himself around the rope and all you could hear is Wayne saying "it is a snake" and watching a snake flying across the moon lit sky.

Scott told us that he was fishing around a school because he could hear the school bell. Wayne and I found the school on Saturday. It was a herd of cows. When the cow with the bell would moo..Wayne said it was the teacher calling the children. I think this qualifies for DAB!! Scott "fishing till' the cows come home" Saltz.

Scott Von Strohe told us about his trip to Mexico Friday night. He said something about participating with three midgets and a donkey. This is way too much information for me so I won't give the details, but I am sure you have the visual.

Chris mentioned something about Earl trying to get fishing advantage by giving him food poison by feeding him food that was left in the boat from the Amistad tournament.  Earl are you trying for DAB for the year again??

Saturday morning was windy, but the cold front quickly approached in the afternoon. The winds turned from the south to the north and brought heavy rains with small hail. It was a dark and stormy weigh-in...all the fishermen were gathered around the scale...when suddenly a big and scary..."And on the eighth day, Man created a fishing hook"

Sunday the winds were 30-35 mph out of the north. Didn't slow anyone down. We all managed to find fish and make it back to the ramp safely.

This tournament, Rebel decided to do a 3 fish per day format.
